The Sakinaw Lake Community Association (SLCA) Board sent a letter dated July 7, 2011 to the Ministry of Environment (see attachments below) detailing our concerns with the process to date and outlining our position on the Sunshine Coast Regional District's (SCRD) application to draw water from Sakinaw. As the June 30, 2011 window for water licence applications to predate the SCRD licence has closed, we expect the Ministry to make some decisions. We continue to advocate our position while the SCRD is moving forward with preparations for a pump station.

On the positive side, Lakers are to be congratulated on responding to the SLCA's call for applying for their domestic water licences. The final tally is not in yet but Ministry staff advise that we have completely overwhelmed their system. We hope to announce a number at the Sakinaw summer meeting July 31.
