AED - Automatic External Defibrillator
As part of enhancing our community emergency preparedness, Bill Sievewright has done some research on AEDs. There are many units available however a supplier on the North Shore, Mediquest (who also provides service and replacement parts), has suggested 2 units, with a strong preference for the Defibtech Lifeline unit.

Phillips HeartStart HS1: Link to info
The current price is $1,495 Defibtech and $1,449 Philips which includes a $400 discount on each. A further discount may be available if enough people are interested.
Here is a comparison of the two units with pros/cons.

As you may know, in the event of an MI / heart attack, seconds literally count. The shock (if required) must be applied within 3-5 minutes so sharing an AED with your neighbour can be problematic. For every 60 seconds, the chances of full recovery decrease by 10%.
If you are interested in obtaining an AED, please email Bill Sievewright at [email protected]. He is organizing an order. The units are in stock.
Also, if you have another suggestion, please let Bill know.
